The work shows how the cosmetics industry can manipulate and control people, especially women. Beauty has become a currency of sorts. It keeps us focusing on the wrong things; worrying about external appearance, rather than doing the work we need to do. It takes our money. We should always ask ourselves hard questions about our desire for things such as cosmetics. It is important whether we love them because we love ourselves or we love them because we are pressured to look beautiful.
